Hye! Remember last time I blogged about joining the M10SelfieStarSearch contest? Well, I made it to the Top 10 Finalist! Woohoo! I would say that I am very lucky or blessed to even be on that list. Have you seen the contestants? None of them were to be taken lightly, seriously.
A week after sending my entry, I got called to attend their photoshoot session with the other 9 finalists. Nervous, I was! Honestly, I just took it as another modelling photoshoot rather than a competition photoshoot. That mindset calmed my nerves a little.
When, I reached the studio, most of them were already there waiting for their turn for makeup and styling. I was 30 minutes late from the call time, thanks to nature calls early in the morning, oh well. Everyone there was really friendly, usually it gets awkward when you meet new people, right? but really it didn't feel awkward. Yes, I was shy, but Daud and Iqram broke the silence even before I could have a moment of awkward silence. By the way, that's two of the contestants. After all the introducing myself to the rest of them were pleasantly easy. I even got to meet Arisa Chow, a famous blogger. You see how tough is this contest!!
These are the Top 10 Finalists - including Nigel ( don't really know what's his position but he was there to basically photobomb us whenever he could *joking* )
First top row - left to right : Roy, Tony, Arisa, Tinie and Daud
Second row - left to right : Iqram, Me!, Kelly, Nigel, Bengee, and Tammy
Each of us was given our very own Canon EOS M10 to play around with after the briefing session. I kid you not, everyone was literally scattered all over the studio (indoor and outdoor) to take selfies. It was one of our first tasks, which was to take as many selfies as we can in the most creative or pretty / handsome way. Here's my results of having the M10 in my possession within the first couple of hours.
Personally, I really had lots of fun with the remote control feature. OOTDs will never be the same, I swear! It totally changes the game plan. Here's some of the shots that I took using that feature.
Pretty cool, right?
I actually have a lot more pictures than these, but I shall not share all of them out because there will be more pictures coming after this.
After the photoshoot session were done. All of us were sent back home with another task. Which this is where the final Grand Winner will be chosen. The task is, from 1st of June 2016 - 7th of June 2016, to record our daily stories with the help of our trusty Canon EOS M10. The topic is between anything to everything. For me, at first I was struggling to think of a topic, because I didn't really had an active lifestyle per say, but then I thought of a "Virtual Dating" experience. Basically, its a 7 days trip of getting to know me as your 'other half''. It's pretty much, something that's very personal for me, as it shows different sides of me as well as, portraying my own relationship goals, I guess?
So, the first day, was about introducing myself as your date, while taking you out on an event.
These are some of the behind the scene pictures which I managed to snap along the way. I did get weird stares when I was sitting alone or standing alone, pretending to be with someone. This was really my first time, going of to somewhere all by myself. I can proudly say, that I can handle being alone while doing the things I love now. This itself is an accomplishment for me, as previously I would always need to have someone to tag along if I were to go to somewhere.
These were taken using the close up feature.
These were taken with Landscape Mode.
Then, for the second date, what else would the theme be if it wasn't about food. We are Malaysians after all. Food hunting and eating is one way to definitely earn someone's heart.
This picture was taken with the Food Mode.
For the third date, weather wasn't that good, so I decided to show my playful self. Please excuse the grumpy Popo.
It's very hard to take pics with pets, honestly I think I lost 5 years of my life trying to keep Popo in position. It's also due to the stormy weather, he was very agitated.
Forth day was about introducing my family to my date. In actual fact, it was my uncle's 50th birthday, and I was requested to be the photographer for the ceremony. So I thought, "Hey, why don't I just incorporate this into the contest" Hence, these pictures were the end result of it...
Despite having a late night, the next morning was the fifth date, where by the concept was " Living a healthy and active lifestyle is the key to a happy relationship ", well in my book at least.
Some behind of the scenes shots...
Yes! I am androgynous this way...
My jogging partner, Priyanka.
The sixth day was all about reminiscing and embracing our inner child moments. Where's the fun in a relationship, if you can't let loose every once in awhile, right?
Many retakes before I could nail this one...
This is how I took some of the pictures...
Not such a flattering view, I would say.
Then came the last day. I was even more nervous for the last day, as thoughts like " Was the previous 6 days good enough?" "I wish I had done more" kept creeping up on me. Till it made me impossible sleep. For the Seventh day, I decided that it would be a "wedding-like farewell" concept. How did these two completely opposite concept matched up? I shall let the pictures and captions speak for itself.
I ended off the contest with a farewell video. Which you can see it here : To View Video!
I was basically and obviously shy to talk to the camera and most of my friends who saw the video all said I was blushing. Like, "Why wouldn't I blush??!! "
It's cringe worthy, I promise. So do brace yourself before watching it, ok?
Priyanka also recorded how it was like to video record my ownself.
and by this..my love journey with My Canon EOS M10 camera, comes to an end. Heartbreaking as it is, I do have to return it to the company, though I will be rejoined with it again, once the Grand Final results are out. Keeping my fingers crossed. At this point on, I can only pray that not only for myself but for the other contestants as well that each and every one of us did a great job.
Well then, till the announcement date. Take good care! See you!
