Hye there! I am back with another Canon EOS M10 tutorial. This time I will be sharing with you a set of close-up shots, tips on how to use flash and some behind-the-scenes to give you a more clearer idea of how each shot was done.
For these close-ups I had left the ISO to auto and adjusted to aperture to -1, as I wanted to create a darker range of images.
I also did use flash for two of the pictures but not directly! I did the bounce-flash method. If you are wondering what is a bounce-flash method, it's basically instead of pointing your flash directly to the object, you face the flash upwards so that it bounces from the top.
Like this!
Here's how each picture was taken:
Wouldn't you agree that these close-ups looks awesome? I love using the close-up feature whenever I am shooting beauty products. This was also actually my first time using the bounce-flash method, I find it really interesting as how different the outcome is with different "roofings".
Wondering what are roofings? Don't bother checking google, I completely just made up this term. The cloth sheets that you see above - I actually use them to create a tent-like-roof for me and the subject that I am shooting, hence the flash bounces off the roofings colours.
Neat trick right? I am no pro photographer, but after a little exploring this was the outcome.
Do stay tuned for more tutorials!
Till the next post, see you!
Sincerely,
Absolute Yana

ReplyDeleteHi Yana (i assume it was your name :D)
ReplyDeleteI try to follow your tutorial with this closeup method, but the lense wont focus. The focus box in display always red. Are you choose the Close Up mode in the camera, or you just go to Manual Setting? Please advise. I am newbie in photography. What f setting did you use?
Thanks inadvance :)
Hye there Devi, yes my name is Yana. Hahaha
DeleteI did set it to close up mode, did you by any chance trying to take a picture that has reflection? If so, then I would suggest, you got to "Menu" and change the Auto Focus + Manual Focus to Manual Focus only. Hope this helps, if not do let me know...I will cross check with my camera again...
