Places I Wish To Visit In Ipoh

Hye there!

For the longest time ever, I have not stepped foot in Ipoh and I feel like I am missing out on so many things! There's a blogger that goes by the name Emily2u and she always covers events that happen in Ipoh, and I must say that (at times) I really feel like Ipoh is so lively till it could probably put KL to shame.

Ipoh's tourism really emphasises on embracing their heritage and local cultures and surely enough it shows through their events. Just go to Emily's blog and you will know what I mean.

This pretty much intrigued me to list down the places I wish to visit in Ipoh, as soon as I get the chance to break away from work.

1. Lost World of Tambun

Why? Simply because I am an adventurous person and I feel like age is catching up to me and I really need to prove to my age that I am still a fun person! lols

It's been a long time since I have gone to a theme park and I really feel it's about time for to do so. Besides, after all the vigorous activities, surely my body would crave for some hot spring delight.

Would you believe it if I said I have not been to a hot spring before? Well, it’s time to trust me with your whole life that I have really not tried any. And yes, I truly understand that I am missing out a lot. Lol

2. Funtasy House Trick Art
Source: Google

I have seen and heard so many people boasting about this place! Me being the art person that I am, I know for sure that I really need to get my butt there once I am in Ipoh!

Whoever that built this place is a genius and is probably a person with an interesting personality.

And come on, their entrance fee is so cheap! Lesser than RM20, I tell you! For a fun time and great memories, why not right?

3. Hunt for the famous Salted Chicken
Source: Google

Thanks to my ex-colleague, I had the opportunity to taste TWICE of this famous Ipoh Salted Chicken. I am really not sure which outlet have it best but it seems that Google agrees that the Aun Kheng Lim Baked Salted Herbal Chicken is the best of the best.

I am a food lover that ‘treasures’ salty food more than sweetish food. And after the first bite of the salted chicken, I just knew that I really (somehow) need to pick up the skills to make it from home. I haven’t tried making one yet, but as soon as I move out, trust me, I would definitely make it and hopefully succeed too.

4. Gua Tempurung
Source: Perak Travel Guide

I have yet to discover and explore the cave ‘world’ and I think that Gua Tempurung will pretty much be an ideal place to start. Why you ask?

Simply because this cave was mentioned throughout all our history and geography lessons back in our school days.

Of course, by the word of mouth by many others too! It would be so fun and a wonderful journey in my photography diary, wouldn’t you think so?

5. Heritage Hotel Ipoh
Source: Google

For obvious reason, the word “Heritage”. Hahaha, I have only heard about people talking about this famous hotel in Ipoh, some say the buffet line that they have are amazing. Well, from the pictures, I would say that it looks pretty average but it does have that homely feeling to it.

FYI, I was browsing through Traveloka, and I saw that they too offer special promotions for Heritage Hotel Ipoh...hmmm I probably should give it a try, right? Because are there even people doing it the "traditional" booking hotels, nowadays?

However, I like how the lobby and dining area looks like (also from Google)…it looks like it's super rich with culture. I like how most of their furniture seems to be made out of Rotan – totally gives out the whole ‘traditional/heritage’ feel.

Of course, it’s a plus that it has an indoor gym. I don’t know why I have a thing against going to gyms in KL, but I always tend to head to the gym when I am in a hotel. Weird, right?

Oh! I also noticed that they have a pretty good-to-use ballroom. I noticed that there were many images of the ballroom decorated for presumably wedding and birthday events. Look kind of promising.

Okay, I am sure there’s a lot more things to do in Ipoh but since I know that I won’t be able to stay for too long, I can only think of going to these 5 places. Where would you suggest I go to in Ipoh? Leave them options in the comment box below for me please and thank you!

Till the next post, see you!
