My Minimalist Studio

Welcome back everyone! If you were wondering what happened to me for the last whole month...well, first and foremost, I was busy celebrating my birthday on the first week of July then all hell broke loose as my freelance job as a dinner hostess for Porsche Experience started.

I was literally juggling in between preparing stuff for my new studio, writing articles for Bukanaku, handling Digital Vision Advertising social media accounts, rushing to Sepang for the Porsche Experience event and as well as trying not to die before the Tamago live streaming that takes place at night on the weekdays.

If you read that whole thing under one breath, then you know that that's exactly how I felt every single day for the past whole month - constantly out of breath.

I know it was too much to handle, but having an own space requires much effort and sacrifices, especially when one does not have savings (or rather still building up their savings). So...last month I was just hustling as much as I could.

And I would say that my hustling days aren't over yet since I now have to prepare for Animangaki that's happening on the 18th and 19th of August. My Layla costume is not even half way done...at this moment I just feel like "I'm screwed!" But at the same time, I somehow have this confidence that I will be able to pull it off...so let's see how it goes, okay?

Okay okay...Let's get back to the introduction to my new minimalist studio!

After years and years of just saying that I wanted to live on my own, finally that dream has come true. Of course, it was all possible because of the endless support from my parents.

Usually, my parents would hesitate to let me move out, but this time around I guess they felt like I needed it, as my room was getting too cramped up till the point where my dad couldn't even walk in to take his clothes. LOL

In a way, I was kicked out...JOKING!

The amazing part of all of these was, I had help from friends, Joanne Wee and her boyfriend, Kevin and one of my father's friend too...which made the moving in process way easier.

Thanks to them, I could move all the things that I needed and set them all up within a day! After they helped me move my things in, I quickly worked on building up all the furniture and I did not stop till almost everything was in place.

Of course, my right palm took a toll that same night...with all the handiwork. 2 days of swelling...but it was all worth the effort.

Just take a look at my new space!

I even made sure that my dining table would double as a product shoot corner. And as you saw in the Althea Turns 3 post, the same table was used.

I can say that I am extremely proud of myself for making it this far and I promised myself that I will do even much more for the days, weeks, months and years to come. My new journey has just begun...that's for sure!

Oh! And in all of these, I find that the hardest part of living by on your own is that buying groceries can be a pain in the bumbum. Especially when you are busy picking out your groceries and your tummy does a real 360 turn and you know you'd have to run to the toilet. If you are with someone else, they could at least hold on to the trolley for you. And at this moment, all you can do is wish that no one touches your trolley or puts the items in the trolley back.

Buying the groceries is one thing...getting them up into your apartment is a whole other story! Please if you are living on your own, do make sure that you plan out your grocery list, have a huge recycle bag with you (an IKEA bag is the best) and you must make sure that you have a lot of energy to get the task done.

I'm pretty sure, I will end up learning about more things and how to handle unexpected situations as the days goes by, so be assured that I will share with you on the "HOW-TO" guides.

That's all for now, and hope to see and hear from you again! Do let me know what do you think of my new minimalist studio. Take care!
